Job summary

Spartanburg County Public Library in Middle Tyger is seeking a Middle Tyger Branch Assistant, Grade 19, to support daily library operations and patron services. The role focuses on assisting patrons, handling circulation tasks, and promoting library programs.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, strong tech comfort, excellent communication, and the ability to work a varied schedule. Schedule includes weekdays with some flexibility for coverage.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service to patrons of all ages with information requests, account services, computers, and library equipment.
• Assist with promoting library card sign ups and community outreach.
• Assist with all circulation duties, registration, patron services and collection maintenance.
• Work with library software and automation programs.
• Contribute to branch meetings and workflow by sharing ideas.
• Monitor branch email, intranet and library website for updates.
• Maintain safety and security, taking appropriate action as needed.
• Perform readers’ advisory and information assistance, item retrieval and holds.
• Prepare weekly in-transit and missing reports.
• Assist with courier bins and processing; maintain tidy shelves and displays.
