Job summary

Independence Excavating, Inc. is seeking a Traveling Land Surveyor to prepare and review data for field crews, and to prepare and approve cut sheets and as-builts on construction projects.

This full-time role involves field and office work, with local travel to job sites and potential overtime during peak periods. The position requires experience with Trimble surveying tools, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and strong math and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum HS Diploma. Additional training and/or related certificate preferred.
• Experience with surveying on heavy civil construction projects.
• Familiarity with Trimble GPS equipment and surveying hardware.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Producing and verifying cut sheets.
• Overseeing initial layout at the job site and providing continuous monitoring.
• Providing work control lines and elevations for accurate measurement and installation of material.
• Checking as-built conditions using surveying techniques.
• Providing topographic and cross-section surveys as required for planning and payment quantities.
• Supervising Surveying Technician and Surveying Trainee personnel.
• Interpreting drawings and specifications and applying them to site layout.
