Job summary

Independence Excavating is seeking a Traveling Land Surveyor to prepare and review data for field crews, and to prepare and approve cut sheets and as-builts on construction projects. The role blends field layout with office review and requires experience with Trimble equipment and AutoCAD Civil 3D.

You will oversee the initial layout at job sites, provide vertical controls, and supervise Surveying Technician staff, while coordinating with project teams to ensure accurate measurements and timely

Qualifications

• HS Diploma required; additional training or related certificate preferred.
• Minimum five years of related surveying experience.

Responsibilities

• Producing and verifying cut sheets.
• Overseeing initial layout at the job site and providing continuous monitoring.
• Providing work control lines and elevations for accurate measurement and installation.
• Checking as-built conditions with surveying techniques.
• Providing topographic and cross-section surveys for planning and payment quantities.
• Supervising Surveying Technician and Surveying Trainee personnel.
• Interpreting drawings and specifications and applying them at the field layout.
