Job summary

Independence Excavating, Inc. is seeking a Traveling Land Surveyor responsible for preparing and reviewing data for field crews, and for preparing and approving cut sheets and as-builts on construction projects. This full-time role involves field work and office tasks, with travel to job sites as needed.

The ideal candidate has experience with Trimble GPS equipment, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and strong math, communication, and accuracy. Local travel is required; overtime may occur during peak times.

Qualifications

• Minimum HS Diploma; additional training or related certificate preferred.
• Capable of producing and verifying data for field crews.
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Trimble equipment.

Responsibilities

• Produce and verify cut sheets.
• Oversee initial layout at job site and monitor throughout.
• Provide work control lines and elevations for accurate installation.
• Check as-built conditions using surveying techniques.
• Provide topographic and cross-section surveys as required for planning and payment quantities.
• Supervise Surveying Technician and Trainee personnel.
• Interpret drawings and specifications to apply to field layout.
