Job summary

Independence Excavating, Inc. is seeking a Traveling Land Surveyor to support field crews across multiple sites.

The role combines hands-on surveying with data preparation, cut sheets, and as-builts, requiring travel to active job sites. You will use Trimble GPS equipment, total stations, and AutoCAD Civil 3D to ensure accurate layouts, topographic surveys, and reliable plan translations for field teams, with an emphasis on safety and precision.

Qualifications

• Minimum HS Diploma.
• Minimum five years of related surveying experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to travel to job sites.
• Strong mathematical and analytical abilities.
• Experience with Trimble GPS and AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred.

Responsibilities

• Producing and verifying cut sheets.
• Overseeing initial layout at the job site and monitoring the same.
• Providing work control lines and elevations for accurate measurement.
• Checking as-built conditions using surveying techniques.
• Providing topographic and cross-section surveys as required.
• Supervising Surveying Technician and Surveying Trainee personnel.
• Interpreting drawings and specifications for layout at the job site.
