Job summary

Independence Excavating is seeking a Traveling Land Surveyor for a full-time role responsible for preparing and reviewing data for field crews, producing and approving cut sheets and as-builts on construction projects. The position blends field layout with office work to support heavy civil projects.

The ideal candidate has a HS diploma and experience with Trimble equipment and AutoCAD Civil 3D, plus strong math and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum HS Diploma. Additional training and/or related certificate preferred.
• Experience with field data preparation and data review for field crews.
• Proficiency with Trimble GPS, Trimble total stations and CAD tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

• Producing and verifying cut sheets.
• Overseeing and coordinating initial layout at the job site and monitoring the same.
• Providing work control lines and elevations for accurate measurement and installation.
• Reviewing as-built conditions using surveying techniques.
