Job summary

Silent-Aire, a division of Johnson Controls, seeks an engineering technician to support field startups and commissioning of large-scale cooling systems. You will read blueprints, install and test HVAC components, and diagnose faults in data center environments, traveling to customer sites as needed.

Your background should include knowledge of electrical/control systems, safety standards, and hands-on skills with plumbing, piping, welding, and brazing. Strong communication rounds out the profile.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent GED.
• Knowledge of cooling/refrigeration equipment and systems.
• Knowledge of electricity and electrical and solid state control systems.
• Knowledge of safety practices and building codes.
• Customer service skills.
• Experience with startup and commissioning at customer facilities.
• Ability to read blueprints, specifications, and schematics.
• Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.
• Must be able to travel to field locations (domestic and international).
• Industrial, Manufacturing Facilities and Field and office environments.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret electrical, control and mechanical blueprints, drawings, and other specifications.
• Measure and lay out reference points for installation.
• Assemble and install refrigeration or air conditioning components using hand and power tools.
• Measure and connect piping using welding and brazing equipment.
• Start up system and test for leaks.
• Recharge system with refrigerant and calibrate system.
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC/refrigeration equipment and PLC-based controls.
• Communicate technical issues to diverse stakeholders.
• Work with design, QA, and manufacturing teams to provide field feedback.
