Job summary

Kiewit is seeking an Entry Level Safety Specialist to support the Site Specific Safety Plan in the field and report to the Project Safety Manager. You will assist with ensuring compliance with company manuals and safety procedures on Southeast District transportation projects.

You will help verify work is performed safely, coordinate with operations and craft, and contribute to continual safety improvements. Willingness to relocate is required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or related field preferred.
• 0–2 years construction safety experience.
• OSHA 30 and First Aid CPR preferred.
• The ability to travel and relocate as required.
• Knowledge of construction safety and current Federal/OSHA requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development, review, updating, and communication of the Site Specific Safety Plan to subcontractors.
• Collaborate with craft daily to promote buy-in of the safety program.
• Exercise Stop Work Responsibility to ensure policy adherence and safe work.
• Plan and problem-solve with operations using leading indicators and upcoming work.
• Assist with incident investigations and corrective actions.
