Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Traveling Controls Engineer to install, commission, troubleshoot, and support custom industrial equipment at customer sites across North America. You will lead startup activities, coordinate with third‑party crews, and provide on‑site and remote technical assistance.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in equipment maintenance or automation, experience with PLCs (Allen Bradley, PanelView), and strong electrical and mechanical skills.

Qualifications

• 3+ years with industrial equipment maintenance or automation.
• Experience with PLCs such as Allen Bradley and PanelView.
• Strong mechanical aptitude for diagnosing failures.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams.
• Knowledge of industrial electrical systems, motors, sensors, and controls.
• Willingness to travel 50–60%.
• Excellent customer service and communication.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to sites.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and support custom industrial machinery at customer sites.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and operational issues.
• Provide on-site and remote technical support to customers.
• Lead startup activities, testing, and commissioning of equipment.
• Coordinate installation activities and third-party crews.
• Assist with machine layout and installation sequencing.
• Coordinate electrical connections, wiring, and system integration.
• Work with engineering teams to diagnose design or performance issues.
• Document service activities and create service reports for customers and management.
• Maintain service records and technical documentation.
• Provide after-hours support for customer issues.
• Support spare parts identification, sales, and replacements.
• Obtain and coordinate installation quotations as needed.
• Ensure customer satisfaction through professional communication and proactive problem-solving.
