Job summary

Birge & Held in Indianapolis is seeking a Traveling Construction Superintendent to lead on-site management for new ground-up multifamily projects. You will coordinate subcontractors, schedules, safety, and quality to meet owner and municipal expectations.

The role requires strong communication, field leadership, and the ability to read construction documents; travel across properties is expected. A 5+ year track record in similar builds is preferred, with OSHA training and MS Office proficiency.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in ground up multifamily construction.
• Degree in construction management preferred but not required.
• Competency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook and Project.
• Thorough knowledge of construction materials.
• Must possess a valid driver's license at time of hire and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.
• Minimum of 30hr OSHA training.

Responsibilities

• Conduct all business in accordance with company policies and procedures, Fair Housing, ADA, FCRA, and all laws pertaining to apartments.
• Maintain a safe work environment and emphasize safety for employees, subcontractors, and residents.
• Perform administrative tasks and submit reports timely.
• Manage and develop subcontractor relationships regarding coordination, scope, scheduling and quality control.
• Review and maintain project files including subcontracts, plans, and safety/inspection logs.
• Maintain and update master project schedule weekly.
• Conduct weekly site meetings with subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and on-site staff.
• Review invoices and change orders for accuracy from subcontractors.
• Schedule and track material deliveries to sites.
• Verify materials conform to project specifications.
• Direct and review subcontractor and staff activities on-site; manage punch lists and issues.
• Perform inspections by local building authority, owners, and lenders.
• Communicate project status and change orders to corporate and field staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
