Job summary

Ahold Delhaize USA is seeking a Project Manager I to oversee store construction, expansion and remodel projects from pre-construction through close-out. You will manage schedules, budgets and procurement, coordinating with internal teams and external vendors to ensure on-time openings.

The role requires extensive travel (80%) across North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia, with a remote office day on Friday.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree; preferred in Construction Management or Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5-7 years of experience in the construction industry.
• Knowledge of architectural designs/engineering concepts and processes.
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects through influence and drive accountability across contractors, developers/landlords, vendors and cross-functional partners.
• Practical construction technology and methods.
• Ability to develop, manage, and execute complex phased planning and construction schedules.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with risk assessment.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced, dispersed environment.
• Experience with ground-up/new store construction, retail remodels, expansions and/or developer/landlord-built projects preferred.
• Ability to travel weekly.
• Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage bidding and awarding processes with GC's, CM's, subcontractors and suppliers for Food Lion-contracted projects.
• Coordinate bid documents, RFQ packages, and ensure timely, accurate submissions.
• Prepare contracts, purchase orders, processing, and payment of requisitions and invoices.
• Oversee Change Authorization/Change Order process to ensure validity and timely payments.
• Review and approve bid packages and change orders to align with budgets.
• Conduct redline reviews of ARCH/MEP plans for accuracy and conformity to standards.
• Provide value engineering feedback to Engineering on projects.
• Develop and implement cost-saving ideas and construction means/methods.
• Plan new store, expansion, remodel projects with schedules and milestones.
• Coordinate with Purchasing, Refrigeration, Real Estate, Preconstruction/A&E, Operations and others.
