In this position, you will travel 100% of the time to work on multiple high-profile projects such as transportation, commercial buildings, wind farms, and more in many geographical areas. General Responsibilities

The Traveling Construction Technician will perform various observations and tests on construction materials such as soils, concrete, masonry, reinforcing steel, and asphalt. Throughout the projects, you will communicate with Project Managers, client representatives, contractor’s representatives, and other key stakeholders regarding testing and inspection results. Tests are performed on building construction projects and further tested in Terracon laboratories. Successful candidates will receive in-depth technical training and professional certifications as they advance in the position.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities

• Travel to and from projects as assigned
• Assist with tasks and perform basic sample tests and observations under the direction of staff professionals or project managers on soils, aggregates, concrete, masonry, reinforcing steel, and asphalt.
• Document and prepare sample testing and observation data using a laptop or tablet; submit findings accurately and communicate results effectively.
• Progressively take on increased roles and responsibilities in work assignments.
• Ensure testing equipment and tools are properly calibrated and maintained.
• Follow safety rules and practices; perform pre-task planning; report safety issues or concerns.
• Maintain quality standards and work cohesively as a team.
• Transport materials safely between sites and labs using company-provided vehicles.

Requirements

• 100% Travel required
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience or equivalent training
• Experience with laptop use and Microsoft Office
• ACI certification in at least one of the following: Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I, Concrete Strength Testing Technician, or Radiation Safety and Nuclear Density Gauge operation.
• Completion of related internal safety certifications
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history

Preferred Certifications

• NICET Level II in Construction Materials Testing or Geotechnical categories
• ICC certifications in categories such as Reinforced Concrete, Structural Masonry, etc.
• AWS Certified Associate Welding Inspector (CAWI)
• ASNT Level II certifications in areas like Visual Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, etc.

This position is categorized as "Remote Only," meaning work is primarily from home or another location without a designated office workspace.

The salary range is $19.00-$26.75 per hour, adjusted based on location, qualifications, and experience.
