Job summary

Terracon is seeking a Traveling Construction Materials Technician to support projects nationwide. This role requires 100% travel across MI, IN, KY, WV, OH and potentially more states, delivering field testing and inspection services on transportation, commercial, and wind projects.

You will perform field testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel, document results, maintain equipment, and assist with scheduling while upholding strict safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1–2 years of relevant experience or equivalent training.
• Experience using laptops and Microsoft Word/Excel is required.
• Willingness to travel up to 100% and for extended periods without returning home.

Responsibilities

• Performs testing, observation, and inspection as directed according to procedures.
• Documents findings and results clearly in reports.
• Performs basic data analysis to verify accuracy before submission to PM.
• Communicates with PM and team as directed by PM.
• Assists higher level technicians on complex tasks.
• Maintains assigned equipment and calibration.
