Job summary

Terracon is seeking Traveling Construction Materials Technicians to support diverse projects across multiple states. This role requires frequent travel to Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Ohio, with exposure to transportation, commercial, and wind energy facilities.

You will conduct testing and inspection of construction materials, interpret drawings, prepare reports, and collaborate with engineers and Project Managers while adhering to safety standards.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred in Civil/Construction Engineering Technology.
• Minimum 2–4 years’ experience as an Engineering Technician or similar.
• 1 year experience in construction inspection preferred.
• Willingness to travel up to 100% and for extended periods without home travel.
• Flexibility for varying schedules, overtime, weekends, and extended shifts.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing, observation, and inspection per training and procedures.
• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Document findings clearly and accurately.
• Perform basic data analysis before reporting to Project Manager.
• Communicate findings to Project Manager and team.
• Draft inspection reports for review by senior inspector or PM.
• Assist more senior inspectors on projects as needed.
• Maintain equipment and calibration; follow safety standards.
