Job summary

Lemartec is seeking a Construction Change Manager to lead change management and control across complex construction projects in the United States. This role requires overseeing change registers, evaluating impacts on cost, schedule, and scope, and coordinating with project controls, engineering, procurement, and commercial teams.

The position involves significant travel and collaboration with owners and contractors to ensure proper documentation and approvals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Project Management, Business, or a related field.
• Typically 10+ years of experience in construction, engineering, project controls, commercial management, estimating or change management.
• Demonstrated experience managing changes on major construction or capital projects.
• Strong understanding of construction contracts, change orders, variations, claims, and commercial processes.
• Experience evaluating cost and schedule impacts of construction changes.
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and field directives.
• Experience working with contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and owners.
• Strong knowledge of construction project controls and scheduling.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, communication, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the project's Change Management and Change Control procedures.
• Establish and maintain a comprehensive Change Register for all project changes.
• Identify potential changes arising from design development, scope changes, RFIs, field conditions, client requirements, regulatory requirements, contractor proposals, and other sources.
• Ensure all changes are formally documented and processed through the appropriate approval process.
• Review change requests for completeness, justification, scope, and supporting documentation.
• Monitor changes from initiation through final approval, implementation, and closeout.
• Coordinate detailed assessments of the impact of proposed changes on cost, schedule, scope, design, procurement, construction, resources, quality, safety, contracts, and commissioning.
• Identify potential secondary, cumulative, and downstream impacts of proposed changes.
• Provide recommendations to project leadership regarding risks and benefits of proposed changes.
• Manage the change order and variation process for contractors and subcontractors.
• Review contractor change proposals, quotations, and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate technical, commercial, cost, and schedule reviews of change orders.
• Verify quantities, labor, materials, equipment, rates, markups, and other cost components.
• Ensure contractor claims and change requests are supported by documentation.
• Track negotiation status and assist Commercial/Contracts teams with resolution of disputed changes.
• Maintain accurate records of approved and pending change orders.
• Monitor the cumulative financial and schedule impact of changes.
• Work closely with construction teams to identify changes arising in the field.
• Coordinate changes resulting from unforeseen site conditions, constructability issues, design discrepancies, and coordination conflicts.
• Review RFIs, technical queries, design revisions, field instructions, and site directives for potential change implications.
• Ensure field changes are properly documented and authorized before implementation.
• Track the implementation of approved changes and verify that project documentation is updated accordingly.
• Identify risks associated with proposed and pending changes.
• Maintain visibility of change-related cost and schedule exposure.
• Support project forecasting and estimate-at-completion activities.
• Analyze trends in change requests to identify recurring issues and potential scope gaps.
• Coordinate with the Risk Manager to ensure significant change-related risks are incorporated into the project risk register.
• Provide change information for monthly project reports and executive dashboards.
• Monitor trends in change volume, value, causes, aging, and approval cycle times.
