Qualifications

• 3+ years of management experience with supervisory responsibilities.

• Experience with EIV; Yardi experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of affordable housing properties and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Maintain HUD, Fair Housing, ADA, and FCRA requirements; coordinate responses to agencies.
• Develop resident intervention strategies for lease/compliance issues.
• Prepare properties for REAC and other reviews and ensure timely certifications.
• Respond to resident inquiries and maintain professional communication.
• Monitor arrears, collect rents, and pursue delinquencies; manage evictions if needed.
• Coordinate move-ins/outs, emergencies, and on-site updates with teams.
• Supervise maintenance and coordinate vendor bids and inspections.
• Prepare property reports and track budgets and financial performance.
• Support construction projects and coordinate with teams for inspections.
• Participate in monthly financial catch-ups and monitor budgets.

Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Traveling Community Manager - Affordable Housing based in United States.

This full-time role supports affordable housing communities across Northeast and Southeast portfolios, with 100% travel required. The Traveling Community Manager oversees day-to-day property operations and on-site compliance activities across assigned properties. The position plays a key role in maintaining regulatory compliance, strong resident service, financial performance, and property standards. You will work closely with regional leadership, compliance, construction, maintenance, vendors, and other stakeholders to address operational priorities. The role combines hands-on property management with inspections, reporting, budgeting, collections, and resident support. Success requires strong organization, sound judgment, regulatory knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Accountabilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations and overall performance of assigned affordable housing properties while ensuring adherence to HUD, Fair Housing, ADA, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and other applicable leasing and housing regulations.
• Maintain strong knowledge of HUD 4350.3 requirements and coordinate responses to regulatory agencies with compliance teams.
• Develop and implement intervention strategies for residents who are not meeting lease or compliance requirements, working closely with regional and compliance leadership.
• Prepare properties for REAC reviews, EHS violation clearance, Management and Occupancy Reviews, investor site reviews, LIHTC reviews, and annual or interim recertification reviews.
• Support residents by responding to requests, questions, concerns, and complaints, while maintaining professional and service-oriented communication.
• Monitor property-wide arrears and litigation matters, document lease violations, coordinate evictions, collect monthly rents and late fees, process applications, pursue delinquencies through legal action, and monitor bad-debt write-offs.
• Coordinate move-ins, move-outs, emergencies, and other operational updates with on-site teams.
• Supervise, direct, and monitor preventive and emergency maintenance and repairs to ensure properties remain safe, well-maintained, and compliant with applicable regulations.
• Coordinate vendor bids and contractor quotes, conduct and document unit inspections, and complete bi-annual property walk-throughs with the Building Superintendent.
• Prepare property reports identifying building needs and ensuring required maintenance, repairs, and improvements are appropriately planned and addressed.
• Provide and obtain updates on construction projects and unit renovations, collaborating with construction teams to support inspections, access requirements, and violation prevention.
• Participate in monthly financial catch-up meetings and monitor property budgets and financial performance.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of management experience, including team supervision; experience in property management, hospitality, retail, or restaurant management is relevant.
• Experience working in affordable housing environments, with knowledge of applicable compliance requirements and operating practices.
• COS (Certified Occupancy Specialist) or CPO (Certified Professional of Occupancy) certification is required.
• TCS certification for tax credit properties is required.
• Experience with EIV is required, while Yardi experience is preferred.
• A bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to work effectively with operational and property management documentation.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively with residents, staff, vendors, contractors, regulators, and internal stakeholders.
• Willingness and ability to travel 100% of the time in support of properties across the Northeast and Southeast portfolios.
