• Orientation includes facility-wide NEO and one shift in department

Job description

American Traveler seeks a Surgical Technologist for an Orthopedic OR position requiring BLS certification and 2 years of experience in a high-volume Level III Trauma Center.

Requirements

• Active Surgical Technologist license required if applicable
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required, with core specialty experience within the last year
• Competency in orthopedic cases, including total joints, required
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Candidate's middle name or initial needed for consideration
• Candidate date of birth and last 4 digits of SSN needed for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Responsibilities

• 13-week contract assignment in a hospital's Orthopedic OR suite among 14 total OR suites
• Level III Trauma Center, Level II NICU, and Primary Stroke Center with 167 beds
• Unit averages 40-50 cases per day
• Patient population includes total joint replacements, sports medicine, trauma, and spine cases
• May float to cover general surgery, plastics, GYN, vascular, urology, ENT, robotics, and GI cases
• May float between Main OR, Ortho OR, and GI, with travelers prioritized for floating assignments
• May occasionally float to an off-site surgery center approximately 20 minutes away
• 8-hour day shift schedule, 1100-1930, Monday through Friday
• Weekend rotation schedule dependent on requisition
• On-call requirement of one weeknight every 2-3 weeks and one weekend every 2 months, with a 30-minute response time
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing system
• Collaborate with a support team including Charge RN, management, surgeons, anesthesia, respiratory therapy, and hospitalists
• Orientation includes facility-wide NEO and one shift in the department
• Holiday coverage expectation of 1 holiday per contract
• Up to 7 days of requested time off can be approved
• Schedule is built by the Charge RN in 8-week increments
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• Free parking is available
• First-time travelers may be considered upon review
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restrictions
• Former employees of the health system or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible
