Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist for a Level III Trauma Center OR. The role requires 2+ years of acute inpatient OR experience with strong ortho, spine, and robotics skills. WA license or CST preferred; BLS required.

Responsibilities include 12-hour day shifts, OR with 12 rooms, diverse case mix, on-call duties, and potential float to inpatient areas. Travelers must align with shift requirements and Epic/Pyxis usage.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of acute/inpatient OR experience required.
• BLS certification required.
• CST certification preferred; state registration for surgical technologists required in WA.
• Strong experience in ortho, sports medicine, spine, and robotics (DaVinci) required.
• Robotic experience (Robotic Mazer/DaVinci XI) preferred.
• Must demonstrate flexibility, teamwork, reliability, and a positive attitude.
• License required if applicable.

Responsibilities

• 12-hour day shifts with variable start times (0630, 0830, 1030) at a Level III Trauma Center with 375 licensed beds.
• OR unit with 12 operating rooms (11 running daily, 1 hybrid) performing 40-50 cases per day.
• Adult patient population with minimal pediatrics (typically ENT).
• Case types include ENT (thyroid), general, ortho spine, total joint ortho, GYN, vascular (AV fistula, fem pops), urology, and podiatry.
• No open heart, transplant, or high-level neuro (EVD) procedures.
• Scrub role for Certified Surgical Technologist in above case types.
• Must be available to work 7 days a week unless approved by management.
• Occasional weekend shifts required based on department needs.
• On-call requirement of 4-6 shifts per 6-week schedule, including nights (2230-0700) and weekends, with 30-minute response time and no sleep rooms available.
• May float to inpatient areas (MS, ICU, PCU, ED Holding, PACU) or ED during low census, performing tasks within scope of practice such as vitals, sitting, and stocking.
• Epic EMR required for CAP backfills/preceptors.
• Uses Alaris and Pyxis systems.
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position.
• Candidates must have experience working the specific shift being submitted for at a comparable hospital setting.
• COVID vaccine required at the facility.
• Scrubs provided by facility.
• Phones not permitted on the unit.
• Standard break schedule applies: three 15-minute rest breaks and one 30-minute lunch for 12-hour shifts; two 15-minute rest breaks and one 30-minute lunch for 8- and 10-hour shifts.
• Orientation includes Day 1 new employee orientation and system access setup, with Epic training specifically on Thursday, followed by unit orientation for the remainder of the week.
• Up to 5 days of RTO may be approved; additional days require manager approval.
• Any missed days due to RTO must be added to the end of the contract.
