Newsandtribune seeks a Surgical Technologist for a hospital surgical services unit in Lexington, KY. Open to candidates with a technical diploma or associate's degree and BLS certification.

The role functions within an RN-directed surgical team, performing scrub duties and maintaining strict aseptic technique. Evening 4x10-hour shifts (11:00 AM–9:30 PM) and a 40-hour week are expected. Licensure may be required where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Hospital surgical services department
• Evening shift schedule with 4x10-hour shifts, 11:00 AM to 9:30 PM
• 40 hours per week over 4 days
• Functions as part of the surgical team under RN direction, performing scrub functions supporting the perioperative plan of care
• Demonstrates knowledge of operative procedures including draping, instrumentation, suture, and equipment
• Maintains aseptic technique including gowning, gloving, sterilization, and disinfection practices
• Anticipates surgeon needs and ensures OR readiness prior to scheduled cases
• Accurately counts and accounts for all surgical items before, during, and after procedures
• Properly disposes of sharps and assists with cleaning and storage of surgical equipment
• Participates in unit activities including staff meetings, orientation of new staff, and preference card updates
• Demonstrates versatility across a variety of OR specialties
• Completes required safety training and demonstrates knowledge of National Patient Safety Goals and AORN Guidelines
• Provides positive customer service interactions with patients and staff
• First-time travelers may be considered
