Job summary

American Traveler seeks a Surgical Technologist with national certification and a Washington State license for a hospital OR position.

The role requires BLS certification, graduation from an accredited surgical tech program, and state licensure where applicable, with shifts of 3x12 hours and 36 hours per week in the Washington area.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required.
• Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology.
• Washington State Surgical Technologist license required if applicable.
• National Certification by the Association of Surgical Technologists.

Responsibilities

• Hospital surgery department setting.
• Day/evening shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week.
• Shift hours from 0630-1900.
• No on-call requirement.
• Functions as a vital member of the OR team, assuming responsibility for the scrub position during surgical interventions.
• Maintains a safe environment by implementing technical and aseptic practices according to AORN Standards and facility policies.
• Proficient in surgical procedures across a variety of services.
• Demonstrates knowledge of surgical equipment and instrumentation.
• Assists team members with setting up and maintaining the sterile field.
• Demonstrates proper use of instruments, sutures, and stapling devices.
• Prepares according to surgeon preference cards and procedure requirements.
• Accurately performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts at appropriate times.
• Properly identifies and preserves specimens according to department policy.
• Demonstrates ability to handle emergency situations.
