Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist for a hospital OR position in Illinois. Requires at least 1 year of surgical tech experience, an Associate's Degree or Surgical Tech certificate, and BLS. Epic charting experience and Level 1 Trauma experience are required.

The role features an evening twelve-hour shift, 36 hours/week, with on-call 1–2 shifts/year, no floating, and travel-ready benefits. Candidates must reside >50 miles away.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of surgical technologist experience
• Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology or Certificate of completion of a Surgical Technology program
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Epic charting experience required
• Level 1 Trauma experience required
• Independently scrubs basic surgical procedures with sound clinical judgment
• Applies foundational knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, microbiology, and pharmacology

Responsibilities

• Hospital operating room setting at a Level 1 Trauma facility
• Evening shift, 11:00a-11:00p, Wednesday-Thursday-Friday
• 36 hours per week across 3 twelve-hour shifts
• On-call requirement of 1 to 2 shifts per year for weekends and holidays
• No floating requirements
• Uses Epic charting system
• Maintains a sterile environment by applying principles of asepsis throughout surgical procedures
• Provides age-specific patient care in accordance with department policies
• Assists with organizing and coordinating supplies and equipment for cost-effective department operations
• Performs room turnover, setup, and equipment sterilization with proper documentation
• Assists with patient positioning and use of positioning devices during procedures
• Precepts medical students, residents, and other students during scrubbing duties
• Maintains a safe environment for patients, coworkers, and self in compliance with hospital and legal standards
• RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
