Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital surgery department within the CVOR specialty
• Day/evening shift with 3x12 hour shifts totaling 36 hours per week, 0630-1900
• Call requirement of a minimum of 14 days within a 6 week schedule
• Functions as a vital member of the OR team assuming responsibility for the scrub position during surgical interventions
• Maintains a safe environment implementing technical and aseptic practices according to AORN standards and facility policies
• Proficient in surgical procedures across a variety of services
• Demonstrates knowledge of surgical equipment and instrumentation
• Assists team members in setting up and maintaining the sterile field
• Prepares according to surgeon preference card and procedure
• Accurately performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts at appropriate times
• Saves and properly identifies all specimens according to department policy
• Demonstrates ability to handle emergency situations and recognize faulty equipment or unsafe conditions
