Job summary

American Traveler seeks a Pediatric CVOR Surgical Technologist for a 13-week travel contract supporting complex cardiac and congenital heart procedures.

Graduate of an accredited program or CST certification is required; AHA BLS and CPCST are preferred. Cardiac experience and the ability to work in a high-acuity pediatric OR are essential. Monday–Friday with on-call rotation, 0700–1530, and a 13-week assignment with immediate fill.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program or nationally certified surgical technologist.
  • 2-4 years of surgical technologist experience in an acute care setting preferred.
  • Cardiac and congenital heart surgical experience strongly preferred.
  • AHA BLS certification required.
  • CST certification highly preferred.
  • License required if applicable.
  • Experience with cardiopulmonary bypass and perfusion workflows preferred.
  • Experience with hybrid OR, transcatheter, or robotic-assisted procedures preferred.
  • Must be available for alternating 1st-call and 2nd-call rotation.
  • Comfortable working in a high-acuity pediatric cardiac OR environment.

Responsibilities

  • Pediatric cardiovascular operating room setting supporting complex cardiac, congenital, hybrid, transcatheter, and robotic-assisted procedures.
  • Monday-Friday schedule, typically 0700-1530, with some weeks consisting of four 10-hour shifts depending on OR case volume.
  • Required call rotation, alternating 1st call one week and 2nd call the next, beginning at end of scheduled workday and continuing until the following morning.
  • 13-week contract with immediate fill need.
  • Serve as primary scrub technologist for complex cardiac and congenital heart procedures.
  • Prepare and manage specialized cardiac instruments, implants, grafts, valves, and devices.
  • Set up and maintain the sterile field, perform surgical counts, and participate in surgical time-outs.
  • Support specimen handling per hospital policy.
  • Collaborate with cardiac surgeons, interventional cardiologists, perfusionists, anesthesia providers, RNs, and other surgical staff.
  • Support cardiopulmonary bypass, hybrid OR, cardiac catheterization, and robotic procedures as applicable.
  • Maintain physician preference cards and ensure equipment and supplies are ready for scheduled cases.
  • Anticipate procedural needs and respond calmly and independently during complex or emergent cardiac cases.
  • Maintain strict adherence to sterile technique, patient safety standards, and cardiac-specific protocols.
