Job summary

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist with cardiothoracic OR experience for a CVOR position at a large teaching hospital.

The role includes 10-hour rotating day/evening shifts (40 hours/week) at a Level 1 trauma teaching hospital. Expect weekend coverage, two of four holidays, and rotations across multiple CVOR specialties, with generous housing and travel reimbursements for traveling candidates.

Qualifications

• AHA BLS certification is required.
• NBSTSA certification is required.
• CNOR certification is preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years OR experience is required.
• Prior travel assignment experience is required.
• Experience in a large teaching hospital is required.
• Level 1 trauma center experience within the last year with at least 1 year total trauma experience.
• Experience as a single scrub in CT/cardiothoracic cases is required.
• Solid knowledge of ortho, robotics, general surgery, ENT, plastics, and neuro procedures is expected.
• License is required if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Operate in a Level 1 trauma teaching hospital OR unit.
• Work 10-hour rotating day/evening shifts, 40 hours per week.
• Schedule includes Monday through Sunday with no block scheduling.
• Provide floating, call, and weekend coverage as needed.
• Must work 2 of 4 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year’s Day.
• Bi-weekly orientations on Mondays.
• Support surgical procedures across multiple CVOR specialties.
• Be part of a scrub team in a fast-paced, large academic hospital.
• Explain employment gaps over 90 days during the application.
• Local candidates within 50 miles get local rates; 51–100 miles radius-based pay; beyond 101 miles standard travel rates.
• First-time travelers will not be considered due to prior travel experience requirement.

• Experience in single scrub capacity for CT/cardiothoracic cases required
• Solid working knowledge of ortho, robotics, general surgery, ENT, plastics, and neuro procedures
• License required if applicable
• Reliable personal transportation strongly recommended, as public transportation is not accessible in the area
• All-season or snow tires recommended for vehicles during November through April
