Responsibilities

• Support CVOR unit for cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgeries.
• Day shift schedule totaling 40 hours per week with 8- or 10-hour shifts.
• Uses EPIC EMR system.
• On-call rotation including one night per week and one weekend per month with 30-minute response time.
• May float to other services within Berkeley OR.
• Orientation provided; first week at Ruby then Berkeley Medical Center.
• Assist with CABG, valve repair/replacement, ECMO, and transplants.
• Assist with robotic, endoscopic, and open thoracic procedures.
• Support vascular cases including angiography, endarterectomy, and AAA repair.

American Traveler is seeking a Surgical Tech for a CVOR unit requiring 2+ years of cardiac, thoracic, or vascular surgery experience and BLS certification.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in cardiac, thoracic, or vascular surgery required
• Strong clinical experience required; travel experience preferred
• New travelers and new clinicians will not be considered
• BLS certification (AHA) required
• License required if applicable
• EPIC EMR experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Acute care hospital CVOR unit supporting cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgical services
• Day shift schedule with 8 and 10-hour shift options totaling 40 hours per week
• Uses EPIC EMR system
• Mandatory call required, including one night per week and one weekend per month with a 30-minute response time
• May float to other services within the Berkeley OR
• A charge person is present in the OR each day
• Clinicians onboard at Ruby for at least one week before transitioning to Berkeley Medical Center
• One week of unit orientation provided
• Support cardiac surgery cases including CABG, valve repair/replacement (open and robotic), ECMO, and transplant procedures
• Assist with thoracic surgeries including robotic, endoscopic, and open procedures such as lung resection, VATS, esophagostomy, POEM, hiatal hernia repair, mediport placement, EGD, and GI/respiratory stenting
• Support vascular surgery cases including diagnostic angiography, percutaneous interventions, surgical endarterectomy, dialysis access management, AAA repair (open and endovascular), visceral arterial repair/intervention, and amputations
• Inserted into holiday call rotation as needed
• Ceil blue surgical scrubs provided by the hospital
• Local candidates accepted within 100 miles for Princeton Community Hospital and 50 miles for other WVU facilities; no local travelers accepted beyond these radii
• Previous WVU Medicine employees must have a 2-year break before reapplying
• Travelers may not work within WVU Medicine for longer than a cumulative year without taking a 2-year break
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
