Job summary

American Traveler seeks a CVOR Surgical Technologist with 2 years of experience for a cardiovascular/thoracic, transplant, and robotics surgery position.

The ideal candidate will have BLS certification, aseptic technique expertise, and experience with robotic and endoscopic cases. GA or Compact RN license is required at time of consideration.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a CVOR surgical technology role.
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred.
• Experience with vascular and cardiovascular procedures including CABG, TAVR, VAD, EVAR, and aortic aneurysm repair preferred.
• Knowledge of case cart and crash cart management, and care of scopes and fiber optic equipment.
• Airway management skills required.

Responsibilities

• Provide surgical technologist support across cardiovascular, thoracic, vascular, and transplant procedures.
• Support care and processing of surgical instruments, scopes, and fiber optic equipment.
• Maintain sterile fields and support aseptic technique throughout procedures.
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM.
• Call requirements include 1 day per week plus 1 weekend approximately every 4 weeks.
• Floating required within facility and scope of practice, including to Main OR as needed.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a CVOR surgical technology role required

• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Experience with vascular and cardiovascular procedures including CABG, TAVR, VAD, EVAR, and aortic aneurysm repair preferred
• Skilled in aseptic technique, instrument processing, and sterilization/disinfection
• Experience with cardiothoracic robotic surgery, endoscopic procedures, and laparoscopic assisted cases preferred
• Knowledge of case cart and crash cart management, and care of scopes and fiber optic equipment
• Airway management skills required
• Professional license required if applicable, must be active at time of consideration
• GA or Compact RN license required at time of consideration

Responsibilities

• CVOR unit specializing in cardiovascular, thoracic, transplant, and robotics (thoracic) cases
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
• Call requirements include 1 day per week plus 1 weekend approximately every 4 weeks, subject to departmental needs
• Floating required within facility and scope of practice, including to Main OR as needed
• 1:1 patient ratio experience
• Provide surgical technologist support across cardiovascular, thoracic, vascular, and transplant procedures
• Assist with hybrid OR and general OR cases as needed
• Maintain sterile fields and support aseptic technique throughout procedures
• Support care and processing of surgical instruments, scopes, and fiber optic equipment
• Maximum of 7 days RTO per contract, which must be finalized prior to start and cannot be requested during orientation week
• Holiday coverage required based on number of major holidays falling within the assignment period
• First-time travelers will be considered for this position
• Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
• Returning staff or travelers must meet facility-specific return eligibility requirements, including a one-year absence for prior employees
