Job summary

American Traveler seeks a CVOR Surgical Technologist with 2 years of experience and heart and lung transplant experience for a teaching hospital surgical services position.

The role requires BLS certification, a KY-compatible license if applicable, and supervisory references. Work includes CVOR cases, trauma exposure, and travel within the hospital network on a 3x12 schedule.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist required
• Level 2 experience required, Level 1 experience preferred
• Experience with heart and lung transplants required
• Experience with trauma cases required
• BLS certification required
• Compact or KY state license required, if applicable
• Skills checklist required for consideration
• At least 1 supervisory reference from within the last 3 years required

Responsibilities

• CVOR unit within a teaching hospital setting
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
• Trauma Level I and II experience preferred
• Candidates will float within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
• Cardiovascular, vascular, and thoracic surgical cases including heart and lung transplants
• Assist in cardiovascular, thoracic, vascular, and general surgical procedures
• Support use of specialized equipment including cell savers, electrosurgical units, and fiber optic instruments
• Adhere to aseptic technique, sterilization, and infection control protocols
• Participate in Universal Protocol time-out procedures
• Complete annual and orientation training modules specific to specialty
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
• Local candidates residing within 100 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Returning permanent staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 6 months to be eligible as a traveler
• All requested time off must be disclosed at time of consideration; requests made after offer will not be approved
