Job summary

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist for a Level II trauma center General Surgery unit. The candidate must have 2 years of OR trauma experience and a recent travel assignment history to qualify.

The role requires scrubbing across Robotics, Neuro, Vascular and Ortho cases, floating between service lines as needed, and EPIC charting experience. Shifts are 4x10 hours with no on-call requirements.

Qualifications

• 2 years of OR trauma experience.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
• Minimum of one recent 13-week travel assignment within the past year.
• License required if applicable.
• CMP blood panel completion required prior to start.

Responsibilities

• General Surgery department within a Level II trauma center.
• 4x10-hour shifts, 0645-1715.
• No call requirements.
• Scrub across Robotics, Neuro, Vascular and Ortho; float between service lines as needed.
• May be required to float to other departments up to competency level.
• Uses EPIC for charting.
• Supply the operating room with proper equipment and instrumentation for specific surgeries.
• Maintain sterility of the surgical field and anticipate surgeon needs during procedures.
• Pass instruments, apply electrocautery, provide irrigation, cut suture material, and connect drains as directed.
• Care for instrumentation and equipment and prepare the room for the next case.
• Assist with room turnover to support surgeons, patients, anesthesiologists, and co-workers.
• May be required to work major holidays and pick up one additional shift during the schedule period, with a minimum of 2 major holidays required.
• Facility may call off shifts without penalty with 48 hours notice for low census per 13-week contract.
• EPIC training provided during orientation or candidates may test out.
• A 13-week break is required for returning travelers after completing a prior contract.
• No blocked scheduling allowed; all assignments are 13 weeks.
• RTO must be submitted with candidate profile and will not be added to the end of the contract.
• Candidates must live outside a 60-mile radius of the facility; local candidates not accepted.
• Level II trauma center with 800 inpatient beds and 80 ER beds serving a 500-mile radius.
