Job summary

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist for a hospital Operating Room position in Illinois. The role requires EPIC charting experience and Level 1 Trauma background; a valid BLS is required.

You will work 0830–1900, four 10-hour shifts per week totaling 40 hours, with weekend and holiday rotation. Travel housing and licensure reimbursements are provided. Must reside outside a 50-mile radius; fingerprinting and regulatory checks apply.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of surgical technologist experience.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• IDPH Fingerprinting required.
• EPIC charting experience required.
• Level 1 Trauma experience required.
• License required if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Hospital Operating Room setting supporting perioperative surgical teams.
• Functions as first, second, or assisting surgical tech under RN supervision.
• Schedule of 0830-1900, four 10-hour shifts per week totaling 40 hours.
• Weekend and holiday shifts required per rotation.
• Floating required.
• Uses EPIC charting system.
• Applies principles of asepsis to maintain a sterile surgical environment.
• Demonstrates technical and psychomotor competency along with sound surgical judgment.
• Provides age-specific care including obstetrical patients per department policy.
• Assists with organization and coordination of supplies and equipment.
• Maintains a safe environment for patients, coworkers, and self in accordance with safety and legal requirements.
• Charges for equipment and supplies used during procedures.
• Participates in operating room turnover and case set-up.
• Maintains and cleans equipment, identifying items needing repair.
• Performs sterilization, disinfection, and documents loads per policy.
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted.
• RTO may not exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract.
• Contingent workers may not continuously work more than 1 year at this health system before requiring a 6-month break in service.
