Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Surgical Technologist for a hospital Operating Room position. Requires 1+ year of surgical tech experience and Epic charting familiarity.

The role features a day shift, 40 hours across 4 days, on-call and rotating weekend/holiday shifts, with a generous housing allowance and travel reimbursements provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of surgical technologist experience.
• Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology or Certificate of completion from a Surgical Technology program.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• IDPH Fingerprinting required.
• License required if applicable.
• Ability to independently scrub basic surgical procedures.
• Working knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, microbiology, and pharmacology.
• Basic understanding of electricity, chemistry, computers, robotics, and lasers as applied to surgical care.
• Proficiency in sterile technique and perioperative teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Hospital Operating Room setting.
• Day shift schedule, 6:45 AM to 5:15 PM, with Wednesdays off.
• 40 hours per week across 4 days.
• On-calls requirements apply.
• Weekend and holiday shifts on a rotating basis.
• Epic EMR charting required.
• Function as first, second, or assisting Surgical Technician under RN supervision during the intraoperative period.
• Apply principles of asepsis to maintain a sterile environment.
• Provide age-specific care to obstetrical patients per department policy.
• Assist with organization and coordination of supplies and equipment.
• Participate in room turnover and setup.
• Maintain and clean equipment, identifying items needing repair per policy.
• Perform sterilization and disinfection procedures and document loads per policy.
• Maintain a safe environment for patients, coworkers, and self in accordance with hospital safety policies.
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible.
• RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract.
• Contingent workers may not be continuously on assignment for more than 1 year at this facility; a 6-month break in service is required before returning.
