Job summary

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist for a hospital General Surgery unit requiring BLS and CST credential or LVN/LPN license.

The position includes 4-day, 10-hour shifts (6:30 AM–4:30 PM), weekend/on-call duties, and floating to the main location. Will use EPIC EMR in a 13-week assignment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of a Surgical Technology program or accredited LVN/LPN program required.
• 2+ years of experience preferred.
• BLS certification via AHA required.
• CST credential within 180 days of graduation or LVN/LPN license required.
• License required if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Hospital general surgery unit setting.
• 4‑day, 10‑hour shifts from 6:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
• Weekend and on‑call requirements.
• Floating to Main location required.
• Uses EPIC EMR.
• 13‑week assignment.
• Assist in preparing and caring for pre‑operative patients, including skin prep and positioning for surgery.
• Maintain aseptic technique and monitor for breaches throughout procedures.
• Transport patients to and from the Operating Room suite.
• Set up OR tables, instruments, and supplies according to case type using physician preference cards.
• Establish and maintain the sterile field, passing instruments and sutures to the physician.
• Proficiency scrubbing in 3 or more specialty areas such as Transplants, Open Heart, Urology, Neurology, Titanium Rib, or Robotics is highly preferred.
• Work under the direction of a professional nurse as part of the surgical team.
• Maintain proper traffic control, dress code, and OR sanitation standards.
• Scrubs provided.
• Accepts local candidates within a 50‑mile radius.
• Returning employees must be separated from the facility system for 6 months prior to starting a new travel assignment.
