American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist for a community hospital general OR position requiring 2 years of scrub tech experience and mandatory call coverage.

You will work in a general OR with trauma, ambulatory OR, and podiatry; shifts are 10:30am-7:00pm with mandatory call, 1:1 patient ratio, and Cerner charting is preferred but not required. Floating duties are included.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of scrub tech experience
• BLS certification required
• NBSTSA or NCCT certification required
• MO or Compact license required and in hand at time of consideration
• Experience with multiple surgical specialties preferred
• Familiarity with robotic systems including Da Vinci Xi
• Proficiency in aseptic technique, sterilization, and universal protocol

Responsibilities

• General OR setting including trauma, ambulatory OR, and podiatry service lines
• 10:30am-7:00pm day shift with mandatory call
• 1:1 patient ratio
• Cerner charting system preferred but not required
• Floating required including coverage as a Patient Observer (sitter)
• Shifts may rotate and include holidays; potential weather-related adjustments
• Care of scopes, fiber optic equipment, electrosurgical units, and robotic systems

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a scrub tech required
• BLS certification required
• NBSTSA or NCCT certification required
• MO or Compact license required and must be in hand at time of consideration (license required if applicable)
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Experience with vascular, gynecology, general surgery, orthopedic, plastics, ENT, bariatric, and neurosurgery procedures
• Familiarity with robotic surgical systems including the Da Vinci Xi
• Proficiency in aseptic technique, sterilization/disinfection, and universal protocol (time out) procedures
• Ability to ambulate, reach, and move objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs
• Ability to work in a healthcare facility open 24/7/365 with routine exposure to contagious illnesses

Responsibilities

• Community hospital general OR setting with trauma, ambulatory OR, and podiatry service lines
• Monday through Friday day shift schedule (10:30am-7:00pm) plus mandatory call
• Patient ratio of 1:1
• Cerner charting system preferred but not required
• Mandatory floating required, including coverage as a Patient Observer (sitter)
• Rotating shifts, holiday coverage, and work during inclement weather may be required
• 50% holiday coverage required during the contract
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for consideration
• Candidates residing 51-74 miles away may be offered a local rate
• Maximum RTO of 10 days, with none allowed in the first week due to orientation
• Travelers may work up to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts (up to 9 months of consecutive service) before a mandatory 6-month break is required
• Returning travelers within 18 months are not required to repeat orientation
• Responsibilities include instrument preparation, sterile field maintenance, and support for surgical procedures across multiple specialties
• Daily duties include care of scopes and fiber optic equipment, electrosurgical units, and robotic surgical systems
• Adherence to emergency management and fire safety protocols required
