Job summary

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for an evening-shift OR position in a teaching hospital setting in Spokane. You will scrub cardiovascular procedures and must have NBSTSA and BLS certifications, plus a compact state license if applicable.

The role requires neuro surgical skills, experience across multiple specialties, and familiarity with Epic EMR. On-call and potential travel between facilities may be involved.

Qualifications

• NBSTSA certification required.
• BLS certification required.
• Compact state license must be in hand at submission time, if applicable.
• Neuro surgical skills are a hard requirement.
• Proficiency with Universal Protocol (time out) procedures.
• Experience across general, orthopedic, neuro, urology, gynecology and plastics is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evening shift, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM in a teaching hospital setting.
• 1:1 staffing ratio in Surgical Services department.
• Must be able to scrub a wide variety of cardiovascular procedures.
• May be required to float between sister facilities near the contracted location.
• On-call approximately once weekly, including one weekend every 6 weeks.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience required
• BLS certification required
• NBSTSA certification required
• Compact state license must be in hand at time of submission, if applicable
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred
• Experience across a wide range of surgical specialties including general, orthopedic, neuro, urology, gynecology, and plastics
• Knowledge of aseptic technique, equipment documentation, laser safety, radiation safety, and specimen handling
• Proficiency with Universal Protocol (time out) procedures
• Neuro surgical skills are a hard requirement for this role

Responsibilities

• Short term acute care, Level II Trauma Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, teaching hospital setting
• Surgical Services department with 1:1 staffing ratio
• Evening shift, 5x8 hours, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM
• On-call required approximately once weekly, including one weekend every 6 weeks
• No unit floating required for this position
• Epic EMR used
• Must be able to scrub a wide variety of cardiovascular procedures
• Robotic surgery experience preferred, including Da Vinci Xi Surgical System
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Scrub color requirement not specified for this department
• No fee for parking at the facility
• Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate within a 50 mile radius
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50 mile radius from the facility
• Candidates must disclose any prior work history at a Providence facility as permanent staff, traveler, or per-diem
• Two supervisory references required, covering 1 year of experience within the last 3 years
• Facility does not accept candidates with Nursys or background check hits
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront during the application process
• May be expected to float between sister facilities near the contracted location
