Job summary

Top Echelon Software, LLC is seeking a traveling field technician to test, troubleshoot and commission high-voltage substation equipment across the Midwest. The role involves hands-on testing from LV to 765 kV, including switchgear, GIS and transformers, with per diem during travel.

Candidate must have substation experience (69–345 kV), NETA Level II–IV preferred, and be willing to travel up to 100% with a valid license. Overtime and 401(k) match are included.

Qualifications

• Hands-on substation experience (69–345 kV) with relays, breakers, transformers and controls.
• Military power-production training is a plus.
• Willingness to travel up to 100% with per diem.
• NETA Level II–IV preferred. Strong uncertified techs will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Test, troubleshoot and commission LV through HV systems, up to 765 kV.
• Test switchgear and breakers, including SF6 gas breakers and GIS.
• Inspect, test and repair transformers, from small units up to large power transformers.
• Run power factor and other HV test sets, and test cable installations.
• Commission and troubleshoot control and transfer schemes.
