Job summary

United Future is seeking a field technician to test, troubleshoot, and commission high-voltage substation equipment across the Midwest. The role covers LV through HV systems (up to 765 kV) and involves traveling to customer sites with per diem and overtime options.

Applicants should have hands-on substation experience (69–345 kV) and knowledge of relays, breakers, transformers, and control systems. Travel up to 100% is required; a valid driver's license is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience with high-voltage test and commissioning.
• NE PTA Level II–IV preferred; uncertified techs considered.

Responsibilities

• Test, troubleshoot and commission LV through HV systems, up to 765 kV.
• Test switchgear and breakers, including SF6 gas breakers and GIS.
• Inspect, test and repair transformers, from small units up to large power transformers.
• Run power factor and other HV test sets (Doble M4000 class or similar), and test cable installations.
• Commission and troubleshoot control and transfer schemes.
