American Traveler, LLC. is seeking a Trauma/Neuro ICU RN for night shift in California. Requires CA RN license and a minimum of 3 years in Trauma and Neuro ICU, with documented work history. Cerner EMR experience and Level II trauma experience are essential.

The role features 3x12 hour nights (18:45-07:15) with float within the service line and a nearby hospital, plus housing allowance and travel support. Local candidates welcome at the same pay rate.

• Trauma Level II experience required; Level I preferred.
• ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, TNCC or TCAR certifications required.
• Cerner charting experience required.
• Infection control and PPE knowledge recommended.

Responsabilidades

• Provide critical care nursing to trauma and neuro ICU patients with complex, multi-system conditions.
• Care for patient population from adolescents to geriatrics with 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio.
• Work night shift: 18:45–07:15 with float within the service line to a nearby hospital.
• Orient and complete required pass/fail testing and Advanced EKG exam before start.
• Ensure accurate charting and documentation per audits.

American Traveler is hiring a Trauma/Neuro ICU RN for a night shift assignment requiring at least 3 years of Trauma and Neuro ICU experience and an active CA RN license.

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required (EMSA not accepted)
• Minimum 3 years of experience required
• Trauma and Neuro ICU experience required and must be documented in work history
• Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, TNCC or TCAR
• Preferred certifications: CPI, MAB
• Cerner charting experience required
• Strict accuracy in charting and documentation required due to extensive chart audits
• Skilled in dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with multi-system organ failure management
• Experience with IV insulin protocols
• Experience with GI surgery patients
• Experience with chronic and acute renal failure, including CVVHD/CRRT and shunt/fistula care
• Experience accessing ports and managing arterial lines
• Experience with blood product administration
• Experience with central line and PICC line care
• Skilled in starting IVs and administering continuous or procedural sedation
• Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Experience with CVA/acute stroke management
• Experience managing external ventricular drains (EVD)
• Experience with hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun
• Experience with ICP monitoring
• Experience with post-neurosurgery management
• Experience with spinal cord injury and TBI care
• Experience assisting with chest tube insertion/removal
• Experience managing BiPAP/CPAP and ventilated patients
• Experience with high flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
• Skilled in ABG interpretation
• Experience with ETT and NT suctioning
• Knowledge of infection prevention, isolation precautions, and PPE use
• Phlebotomy experience required
• Experience managing surgical wounds with drains and wound vacs
• COVID vaccination required
• Recent Nursys report required
• One supervisory reference required

Responsibilities

• Surgical/Trauma/Neuro Intensive Care Unit setting
• Patient population ranges from adolescents to geriatrics
• 1:2 patient ratios
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (18:45-7:15)
• Float required within service line, including to a nearby hospital approximately 15 minutes away
• Advance notice provided if floated, with a billable 1-hour orientation for the float location
• Cerner EMR used
• Provide critical care nursing to trauma and neuro ICU patients with complex, multi-system conditions
• Participate in facility- and unit-specific orientation; a positive learning attitude is expected
• Complete required pass/fail testing and an Advanced EKG exam prior to starting
• Complete a 1-hour CA Harassment course, submitted via paper timecard
• Complete standard training modules (approximately 4 hours, non-billable) before or during orientation
• Skills in pupillometry and hourly neuro checks are valued
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply if they meet minimum requirements
• All requested time off must be submitted with the initial application; post-submission RTO changes will not be approved
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Interview availability must accommodate Pacific Standard Time
