Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking a Night Shift RN for a 12-bed Stepdown/Neuro IMC unit with 2 years of experience and Epic proficiency. VA license or compact license is required, with BLS/ACLS/NIHSS certifications in place.

The assignment is 13 weeks long, offering 36 or 48 hours per week, night shifts (7:00 PM–7:00 AM), and comprehensive benefits including housing, travel, and per diem support.

Qualifications

• Active VA state RN license or compact license (pending accepted).
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years of recent Stepdown/Neuro IMC experience.
• Epic charting system experience required.
• BSN preferred.
• Experience with neurologic conditions including aneurysms, craniotomy, CVA, intracranial bleeds, and TBI preferred.
• Experience with lumbar drains and EVD management preferred.
• Experience with arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP, and insulin drip titration preferred.

Responsibilities

• 12-bed Step-down unit utilizing critical care and neuroscience principles at the intermediate level.
• Neuro trauma, hemorrhage, post-tumor, post-op spine patient populations.
• Patient ratio of 1:3.
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:00 AM).
• 13-week assignment with 36 or 48 hours per week options.
• Every other weekend and every other holiday rotation (2 of 3 winter holidays).
• Adhere to facility float policy within scope of practice.
• Epic EMR experience required.
• Provide intermediate-level critical care and neuroscience nursing care.
• Manage post-surgical spine and plastics/reconstruction patients alongside neuro caseload.
• Maximum of 40 hours RTO approved per 13-week contract.
• Disclose UVA Health employment history; need leadership approval for rehire.
• External travelers capped at 365 total assignment days; not eligible to return after.

• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
• 13-week assignment with scheduling options of 36 or 48 hours per week depending on position
• Every other weekend and every other holiday rotation required, including 2 of the 3 winter holidays
• Must adhere to facility float policy within scope of practice
• Epic EMR experience required
• Provide intermediate-level critical care and neuroscience nursing care to a complex neuro patient population
• Manage post-surgical spine and plastics/reconstruction patients alongside primary neuro caseload
• Maximum of 40 hours RTO approved per 13-week contract
• Candidates with prior UVA Health employment as permanent staff or travelers must disclose this; a 1-year separation and leadership approval is required for rehire eligibility
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once this threshold is reached
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
