Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced RN for a Step Down/Telemetry assignment in Ohio. The role requiresEpic proficiency, OH or compact RN licensure, and strong telemetry skills.

Responsibilities include caring for cardiac, neuro, and CVA patients on a step-down unit with 1:4 ratios, night shifts, and 4x12 hour days. Travel-friendly contract options offered; local candidates must reside >50 miles away.

Qualifications

  • Active OH RN license or compact license required.
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; IV Start preferred.
  • Minimum 1.5 years nursing experience, with Level 1 or 2 trauma experience preferred.
  • Experience with stable chronic ventilators required.
  • Epic charting experience required.
  • Must pass an online EKG telemetry competency assessment prior to starting the assignment.
  • Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips preferred (titration not required).
  • IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, and PICC line management.
  • Respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and tracheostomy management preferred.
  • Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred.
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Step down unit caring for cardiac telemetry, neuro stepdown, and CVA patient populations.
  • Targeted patient ratios of 1:4, with possible increases up to 1:5-6.
  • Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 19:00-7:30.
  • 13- or 18-week contract options available.
  • Required to work every other weekend and every other holiday.
  • Floating may occur across main, south, and north campus locations within 15 miles.
  • Travelers are typically first to float at facility discretion.
  • Provide telemetry monitoring and stepdown-level nursing care for cardiac, neuro, and CVA patients.
  • Participate in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and rapid response/code team activities.
  • Perform wound care, isolation precautions, and PPE protocols as needed.
  • Manage patients with renal, endocrine, and gastrointestinal conditions including insulin protocols and feeding tube care.
  • Lab work and EKG/dysrhythmia exam must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract.
  • Up to 24 hours of orientation modules are billable.
  • Maximum of 14 days RTO allowed per contract, to be requested at time of submission.
  • Local candidates are not accepted; must reside more than 50 miles from the facility.
  • Any past PERM/PRN employee of the health system must wait 6 months before reapplying as a traveler, pending facility rehire approval.
  • Travel experience is not required; first-time travelers may be considered.
