Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Step Down RN for a night shift assignment in Ohio. The role requires EPIC experience and an EKG/dysrhythmia competency assessment to be completed prior to start.

Responsibilities include caring for telemetry and progressive care patients on a 4x12 hour night schedule, with a 1:5 patient ratio and potential floating to nearby facilities. Weekend and holiday coverage is required.

Qualifications

• Active RN license accepted in any state or compact.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
• Must pass an online EKG/dysrhythmia competency assessment.
• EPIC charting experience required.
• IV therapy, central and peripheral line care, PICC management.
• BiPAP/CPAP and high-flow oxygen administration experience.
• Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management.
• PRN/perm staff not retained and disciplinary actions disqualify.

Responsibilities

• Care for telemetry and progressive care patients in Step Down.
• Night shift 7:00 PM–7:00 AM, 13-week assignment.
• Patient ratio 1:5 with floating to nearby facilities as needed.
• EPIC EMR usage and documentation responsibilities.
• Weekend and holiday coverage required, with limited RTO.
• Support chest tube, wound care, insulin titration as applicable.

Requirements

• Active RN license (any state or compact) accepted
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Must pass an online EKG/dysrhythmia telemetry competency assessment prior to starting assignment
• EPIC charting system experience required
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with rapid response/code team activation
• Candidates with past license disciplinary action will not be accepted

Responsibilities

• Progressive Care Unit (Step Down) setting
• Night shift, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• 13-week assignment
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Floating required at facility's discretion, including to other nearby facility locations within the specialty cluster
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
• Provide nursing care for telemetry and progressive care patients, including cardiac, neurological, and respiratory cases
• Preferred experience includes chest tube management, wound care/wound vac, insulin drip titration, and cardiac drip titration
• Preferred prior charge nurse experience
• Maximum RTO of 14 days per contract, with no schedule changes negotiable after offer
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius to be considered; local candidates are not accepted
• Previous PRN/perm employees of the health system, or prior agency staff not extended due to tenure, must wait 6 months before applying and require facility rehire approval
