Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) on Days in a Level II Trauma Center. Requires at least 2 years in IMC/stepdown and a prior travel assignment, with NV RN licensure and AHA certifications.

The role features a 18-bed IMC unit, 3x12 days, 36 hours weekly, no on-call, and Epic EMR use. Candidates must meet the ECG/telemetry exam and be willing to float and cover holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• Active NV RN license required prior to start.
• Minimum 2 years IMC/Stepdown experience.
• Prior travel assignment experience at a Level II Trauma Center preferred.
• Experience with vasopressors, titratable drips, arterial lines, neuro-stepdown patients, procedural sedation, thrombolytics, and trach management.
• ECG/Telemetry rhythm strip interpretation required.

Responsibilities

• Care for 18-bed IMC unit within a Level II Trauma Center hospital.
• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
• Schedule: 3x12 days, 36 hours per week; no on-call requirements.
• Use Epic EMR with orientation or test-out option; floating up to competency as needed.
• Assist with coordination of care and clinical judgment in a high-acuity environment.
• Be available to work 2 of 3 major holidays; may include weekends/holidays.

Job description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) Days position requiring at least 2 years of IMC/stepdown experience and prior travel assignment experience at a Level II Trauma Center.

Requirements

• Active or eligible NV RN license required prior to start
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA required)
• Minimum 2 years of IMC/Stepdown experience required
• Medical/Neuro ICU experience preferred
• Experience required with vasopressors, titratable drips, arterial lines, neuro-stepdown patients, procedural sedation, thrombolytics, and trach management
• Must pass an ECG/Telemetry exam including rhythm strip interpretation; failure results in contract termination
• At least one prior 13-week travel assignment required within the past year

Responsibilities

• 18-bed Intermediate Care Unit within a Level II Trauma Center hospital
• Cares for patients experiencing severe but usually non-life threatening issues, including post ischemic/hemorrhagic stroke, sepsis, cardiac, and respiratory cases
• 3x12 Days schedule, 36 hours per week guaranteed
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Epic EMR, with training provided during orientation or option to test out
• Floating required up to competency level based on organizational needs
• Schedule may include weekends and holidays based on department needs
• Provides individualized, comprehensive nursing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and their families throughout the episode of care
• Coordinates care with other professionals and exercises clinical judgment in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
• Works within a Level II Trauma Center serving a 500-mile radius with 800 inpatient beds
• Must be available to work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Eve + Day counts as 1 holiday)
• Required to pick up one additional shift per 4-week schedule period
• Facility may cancel up to 48 hours per 13-week contract for low census, without penalty
• No blocked scheduling permitted; all assignments are 13 weeks
• RTO must be submitted with initial application and will not be added to the end of the contract
• Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• A 13-week break is required before returning to a contract at this facility
