Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an RN for a Progressive Care Unit assignment in North Carolina. The role requires at least 18 months of PCU experience and NC or Compact RN licensure, along with BLS, ACLS and NIHSS certifications.

Expected duties include patient care on an 11-bed PCU with a 1:3-4 nurse to patient ratio and 12-hour night shifts. The unit supports stroke, HF, chest pain, COPD, and post-procedure patients; travelers should be prepared for 75% holiday coverage and cross-facility

Qualifications

• Active RN license NC or Compact; BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required.
• Minimum 18 months PCU RN experience.
• Experience managing critical care drips (insulin, nitroglycerin, Cardene, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, heparin, blood products).
• PCU skillset includes stroke care, rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drains.
• Must reside >50 miles from facility; local candidates not accepted. SSN last 4 and DOB required.
• At least one reference from Supervisor/Manager/Director/Charge RN within past year.

Responsibilities

• 11-bed PCU within a 174-bed hospital.
• Patient population includes stroke, heart failure, chest pain, COPD, post cath, ETOH/CIWA, GI, liver issues.
• RN to patient ratio 1:3-4; CNA 1:5-6.
• 12-hour night shifts, 1900-0700; 36 hours weekly.
• Every other weekend rotation; travel nurses work ~75% of holidays.
• Floating inside Union and Region 2 facilities as needed.
• No dedicated telemetry tech; nurses read monitors and respond.
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris pumps, Omnicell, Philips monitors.
• Orientation includes NEO plus 2 departmental days.
• Team includes CNAs, HUC, 24/7 charge, phlebotomy, 24/7 RT, intensivist coverage.

• Minimum 18 months of PCU RN experience required
• Experience managing critical care drips including insulin, nitroglycerin, Cardene, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, heparin, and blood products
• General PCU skillset required including stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion)
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• At least one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Responsibilities

• 11-bed Progressive Care Unit within a 174-licensed-bed hospital
• Patient population includes stroke, heart failure, chest pain, COPD, cardiac cath pre/post, ETOH/CIWA, IVDA, respiratory illness, GI disorders, liver failure, and AKI/CKD cases
• RN to patient ratio of 1:3-4 and CNA ratio of 1:5-6
• 12-hour night shift schedule, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call requirements for travelers
• Floating required as needed within Union and across Region 2 facilities (Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, Central Division) within scope of practice
• No dedicated telemetry monitoring tech; nurses are responsible for reading monitors and responding
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors
• Support team includes CNAs, HUC/receptionist, 24/7 charge nurse, phlebotomy for peripheral draws, IV/VAT team, resource nurse as available, 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage, plus 24/7 virtual nursing support
• Orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays
• RTO requests require Resource Team approval
• Navy scrubs required
• Free parking available
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
• Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
• First-time travelers are not preferred but will be considered
