Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Progressive Care Unit. The position requires 2+ years of recent PCU cardiac experience and NC or compact RN licensure. Responsibilities include caring for CHF, post‑cath/pacemaker, and COPD patients in a 14-bed unit, with a 1:6 patient ratio.

Night shifts run 7:00pm–7:00am, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week (36 hours). On-call and some weekend/holiday coverage may be required.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in NC (Standard or Compact).
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC).
• ACLS and NIHSS certifications required.
• CPI-A certification required.
• 2+ years of recent PCU experience caring for cardiac patients.
• Nursing Diploma, ADN, or ASN from an accredited nursing school required.
• BSN or MSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Treats CHF, post-cath/pacemaker, and COPD patients in a 14-bed adult med/cardiac Progressive Care Unit.
• Patient ratio of 1:6 with 1-2 admissions per day.
• Night shift schedule from 7:00pm to 7:00am.
• 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week, 36 hours weekly.
• On-call required for 1 shift per pay period if census drops.
• Up to 4 weekend shifts required if needed.
• Holiday coverage required as needed.
• Delivers competent clinical nursing care within hospital standards.
• Coordinates and delivers patient care under the Nurse Manager/Director.
• Performs bedside point of care testing as part of the patient care plan.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams on care planning, discharge planning, and performance improvement.
