Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an IMC/Telemetry position in Illinois. Requires 2+ years of cardiac telemetry and an active IL license with BLS/ACLS. Will work night shifts in a Level I trauma hospital and may float to related units.

Open to first-time travelers and local candidates; travel nurses welcome. Cerner charting used; strong skills in dysrhythmia management and post-cath care are essential.

Qualifications

• Active IL RN license required and in hand at time of consideration.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred.
• AHA and Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI cards not accepted.
• Minimum 2 years of recent Tele/PCU experience.
• Experience in MS/Tele, Cardiac Tele, or PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown required.
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management.
• Experience with pre/post cardiac cath, cardiac surgery, sheath removal, and TR band required.
• Line management and blood product administration experience required.
• Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (titration required).
• Wound care, chest tubes, CPAP/BIPAP, HFNC, and isolation precautions experience required.
• Feeding tube care and pre/post hemodialysis management experience.
• Surgical drain management experience.
• Previous charge nurse and trauma center experience preferred.
• SSN and DOB required at consideration.

Responsibilities

• IMC/general onsite telemetry unit in an acute care hospital.
• Average daily census around 38 patients with 1:5-7 nurse-patient ratio.
• Night shift schedule 3x12 or 4x12 hours (1845-0715).
• Required to work every other weekend.
• No on-call requirements.
• Floating to like units or affiliate facilities as needed.
• Uses Cerner charting system.
• Provide telemetry and cardiac monitoring care for a general IMC population.
• Work in a Level I trauma, Magnet-designated facility with 562 beds.
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
• Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction.
• Separate for at least 12 months if previously employed when returning as traveler.
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays.

• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions required
• Experience with feeding tube care and pre/post hemodialysis management required
• Experience with surgical drain management required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and Level I trauma experience preferred
• SSN and date of birth required for consideration

• Previous permanent or PRN employees of the hospital system must be separated for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• Requested time off should ideally be 5 days or fewer
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Travel pairs are not accepted
