Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care (IMC) unit role requiring PCU/IMC/Stepdown experience and prior travel history.

The position involves night shifts (3x12), IMC/dynamic float to Telemetry or Med-Surg as needed, and weekend coverage aligned to unit needs. Strong emphasis on specialized skills and references from recent assignments.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (MD or Compact) required.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience within the last 7 years required.
• PCU/IMC/Stepdown experience required.
• Must have completed at least 1 previous travel assignment.
• Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with a minimum overall score of 80% and 100% on lethal rhythms.
• Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment, supporting at least 2 years of experience in the previous 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Intermediate Care (IMC) unit of a hospital setting.
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (18:45-07:15).
• IMC unit patient ratio of 1:4.
• Float required to Telemetry and/or Med-Surg units as needed, which maintain a 1:5/1:6 ratio.
• Every other weekend coverage required, with scheduling directed by unit operational needs.
• Provide nursing care within an Intermediate Care/Stepdown unit environment.
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred.
• Charge nurse experience preferred.
• Skills include respiratory management (BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, oxygen therapy), IV therapy, central and peripheral line care, cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management, and renal/dialysis management.
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment.
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per 13-week contract.
• Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at a lower pay rate.
• Previous MedStar employees must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler.
• Manager interviews are not guaranteed, and candidates should be comfortable proceeding without one.
