Job description

American Traveler is hiring an RN - Telemetry for a Med Surg/PCU unit requiring 2 years of experience and an active IL RN license.

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience required
• General PCU/cardiac/tele skills required, including wound care and PIV start
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Candidate DOB and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
• Candidate's middle name or initial required for consideration
• Minimum one professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Responsibilities

• Med Surg/PCU/Cardiac/Tele unit within a Level 1 Trauma Center, Level II NICU, and Magnet-designated teaching hospital
• General PCU/Cardiac/Tele patient population including post-cath lab, CHF, COPD, pneumonia, and basic wound care cases
• RN patient ratios of 1:4 on days and 1:5 on nights, with CNA ratios of 1:8
• 12-hour day shift schedule, 7am-7:30pm, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required to other med/surg units
• Centralized telemetry monitoring supported by dedicated tele techs
• Support staff includes 24/7 HUC, 24/7 RT, 24/7 Hospitalist coverage, phlebotomy services, and IV/VAT team coverage until 10pm
• Charge nurse takes a patient assignment on night shift
• Wound care nurse available for consults
• Unit uses Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing system
• At least one orientation shift provided to learn unit flow
• Holiday coverage required as posted by the department
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Free parking available
• First-time travelers considered upon review
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restrictions
• Former Advocate Health employees must be separated at least 12 months before becoming eligible for a travel assignment
• Time off requests must be approved through the manager
