American Traveler, LLC. is hiring an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care/Telemetry unit with neuro stepdown focus in North Carolina. Requires NC or Compact RN license, ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and travel nursing experience.

Responsibilities include 1:4 staffing, 12-hour nights, and potential float to related units. Epic EMR is used; unit orientation completes within hospital orientation. High standards for teamwork and safety are expected.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required; submission accepted with pending license.
• Current ACLS, BLS, NIHSS; CPI preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in neuro stepdown/telemetry.
• Neuro stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, and Telemetry experience required.
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management; IV insulin protocol titration.
• Ventilator care, chest tube management, ABG interpretation.
• Epic EMR experience mandatory; prior travel nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide intermediate-level care in a Neurological IMC/Telemetry unit.
• Staffing ratio 1:4; unit max 24 patients; 12-hour night shifts.
• Float to PCTU, Cardiac IMC, ICU/Stepdown as needed; no-call requirements.
• Complete orientation and unit-specific training; adhere to call-off policy.
• Maintain high teamwork standards and patient/staff safety.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care/Telemetry unit requiring neuro stepdown experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required, pending license/certification accepted at submission
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS required; CPI preferred
• Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
• Neuro stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, and Telemetry setting experience required
• Required skills include dysrhythmia interpretation/management, IV insulin protocol titration, feeding tube management, CBI, hemodialysis management, central/peripheral/PICC line care, blood product administration, cardiac and vasoactive drip titration, LEVO titration, and care of neurological conditions including craniotomy, CVA, TBI, and seizure disorders
• Respiratory skills required including BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator care, chest tube management, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy care
• Wound care/wound vac and isolation precaution experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Preferred certifications: CCRN and TNCC
• Preferred skills include port access, phlebotomy, triage, ICP monitoring, conscious sedation, and charge nurse experience

Responsibilities

• Work in an Intermediate Care (IMC) unit specializing in neurological stepdown and medical intermediate patients
• Patient ratio of 1:4 with unit maxing at 24 patients/beds
• 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15, with 36 or 48-hour weekly options available
• No call requirements
• Float to other intermediate areas such as PCTU or Cardiac Intermediate, as well as ICU/Stepdown critical care areas
• Weekend requirement of at least 3 shifts every six weeks
• Utilizes Epic EMR, Pyxis, and SBAR communication systsem
• Provide intermediate-level nursing care to a sub-specialized neurological and medical intermediate patient population
• Must demonstrate a strong teamwork approach and meet facility behavioral expectations in all patient and staff interactions
• Adherence to the facility's call-off policy is strongly enforced
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start for this specialty
• Unit orientation consists of 32 hours, including an 8-hour computer class plus two shifts of unit orientation after initial hospital orientation
• Scrubs are not provided; any combination of navy blue and white is accepted
• Contract lengths of 16+ weeks up to a hard stop date are accepted to support the unit through the holidays
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• RTO of 7 days or less may be auto-approved (excluding holidays); no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
• Previous Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before reapplying, with facility rehire approval required
• Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate
• Travel pairs allowed if placed on different units
• Current travel per diem clinicians must choose between travel or per diem status
