American Traveler, LLC. is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Surgical ICU position in Charlottesville, VA. Requires 2+ years of critical care experience and an active VA/compact RN license.

The role includes a 13-week night shift with a 1:2 patient load in a Level 1 trauma teaching hospital. Benefits include travel/licensure reimbursements, housing support, and generous incentives.

Qualifications

• Active VA or compact RN license required (or pending)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• TNCC certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years SICU or critical care experience
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Epic charting system experience required
• Must manage critical care skills including arterial lines, central lines, ventilation, vasoactive drips, EVD/ICP monitoring, and dysrhythmia management
• Two professional references required

Responsibilities

• Work in a fast-paced 15-bed Surgical/Trauma ICU at a Level 1 trauma facility
• Care for adult surgical and trauma critical care patients
• 1:2 patient ratio
• 13-week assignment with night shift (3x12 hours, 7pm-7am)
• 36 or 48 hours per week possible
• Every other weekend plus 2 of 3 winter holidays
• Float within scope of practice per facility policy
• Provide direct critical care nursing to complex surgical and trauma ICU patients
• Manage ventilated patients, hemodynamic monitoring, and blood product administration
• Up to 40 hours of RTO per 13-week contract; disclose pre-start vacation time early
• No mileage/radius restriction for this unit
• Internal/external UVA travelers require separation and leadership approval before returning
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days with the facility
• First-time travelers welcome

• Provide direct critical care nursing to complex surgical and trauma ICU patients, including those with multisystem organ dysfunction
• Manage ventilated patients, hemodynamic monitoring, and administration of blood products and continuous sedation
• Maximum of 40 hours of RTO allowed per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration
• Any pre-start vacation time must be disclosed early to arrange an appropriate start date
• No mileage/radius restriction for this unit
• Previous UVA permanent staff or internal/external travelers must have 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days with the facility
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
