Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a Surgical ICU travel assignment in New Orleans, LA. Requires 2+ years SICU experience, active LA/Compact RN license, and current ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications.

Epic EMR experience a must. Night shift 3x12s with 1:2 patient ratio; travel to other ICUs possible. The position offers competitive pay, housing allowance, and per diem support for a successful candidate willing to cover holidays and extended shifts.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Compact or LA) in hand upon consideration.
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS.
• Minimum 2 years SICU experience required.
• Travel experience required; first-time travelers not accepted.
• Experience with hemodynamic monitoring (CVP, CRRT) required.
• Experience with cardiac monitoring and CVP monitoring; drip titration.
• Experience with post cardiac surgery and pre/post cardiac cath intervention.
• IV therapy including blood products, central line management, PICC line management.
• Chest tube insertion/removal and care of ventilated patients.

Responsibilities

• Surgical ICU unit within a hospital setting.
• 1:2 patient ratio.
• Night shift schedule: 3x12 hours from 18:45 to 07:15.
• Every other weekend required.
• Potential floating to other ICUs and step-down units.
• No call-in requirement.
• Epic EMR experience required.
• Direct patient care for SICU patients including post-cardiac surgery and transplant recovery cases.
• Liver, kidney, pancreas, heart, or lung transplant recovery and LVAD/RVAD care when available.

Requirements

• Active RN license (Compact or LA) in hand upon consideration
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Surgical ICU setting required
• Travel experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
• Experience with hemodynamic monitoring including CVP and CRRT required
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, central venous pressure monitoring, and drip titration required
• Experience with post cardiac surgery and pre/post cardiac cath intervention required
• Experience with IV therapy including blood product administration, central line management, and PICC line management required
• Experience with chest tube insertion/removal and care of ventilated patients required
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Updated NURSYS report required

• Holiday coverage required for 2 of 4 designated holiday periods: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
• Must reside more than 65 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• Two manager or supervisor references required prior to starting contract (charge RN references not accepted)
• Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a 1-year separation before returning as travelers
• All requested RTO must be included on the candidate profile and discussed during the interview
• Orientation is held five days a week
• May be assigned to an emergency response team during declared emergency events, with expectation to remain onsite or serve as part of a relief team
