American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position in Peoria, IL. Candidates must hold an active Illinois RN license, be certified in BLS and ACLS, and have ICU and Level I trauma center experience.

Minimum 1 year of nursing experience is required. Unit features a 13-bed Surgical ICU with 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratios (often 1:1 or 1:3). EPIC EMR is used; 12-hour day shifts are 7:00am–7:30pm with weekend and holiday coverage as described.

Responsibilities

• Care for post-surgical, open abdomen, multi-system trauma, and endovascular cases.
• Titrate drips including pressors, sedation, paralytics, and insulin.
• Read and interpret telemetry; monitor techs available.
• 12-hour day shifts: 7:00am–7:30pm; on-call coverage later.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position requiring Level I trauma and ICU experience with active IL licensure.

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required

• Level I trauma center experience required
• Prior ICU experience required

Responsibilities

• Acute care Surgical ICU unit with 13 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratios typically 1:2, occasionally 1:1 or 1:3
• Patient population includes post-surgical, open abdomens, multi-system trauma, and endovascular cases
• RNs responsible for titrating drips including pressors, sedation, paralytics, and insulin
• RNs responsible for reading and interpreting their own telemetry strips, with monitor techs also present
• Charge nurse available on each shift and may take an assignment as staffing allows, plus 24/7 house supervisor support
• Nurse aides/patient care techs on unit at a 1:10 ratio
• Intensivist in house approximately 0700-1900 with telemedicine intensivist support and on-call attending coverage afterward
• Respiratory therapy available in the ICU 24/7 with ventilator, CPAP, and BiPAP equipment
• 12-hour day shifts, 7:00am-7:30pm
• Weekend requirement of 6 shifts in a 6 week period
• Holiday coverage required every other holiday
• No call or standby requirement
• Floating required, with travelers floated to a lower level of care taking a full team assignment (3 patients on Stepdown or 5-6 patients in general medicine)
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Unit-specific orientation includes 8 hours learning EPIC, 8 hours with an educator, 4 hours of shadowing, and 12 hours with a preceptor on the unit
• No specific scrub color or dress code required
• Negative drug screen required for all panels as facility is a Drug-Free Campus
• COVID vaccination not required
• No radius rule restricts eligibility, though local rates apply to clinicians with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility
