Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse for a Free-standing Mental Health Emergency Center in Milwaukee. This 12-hour night shift (1900-0730), 36 hours/week role focuses on crisis de-escalation, assessment, discharge planning, and care for adults and adolescents.

You'll work with on-site physicians, CNAs, security, and social work staff, with EPIC EMR experience preferred and a weekend rotation. Must have active WI license and BLS, plus CPI/MOAB training upon arrival.

Qualifications

• Active WI license or compact license required.
• BLS certification required.
• De-escalation certification (CPI/MOAB); CPI training upon arrival.
• Minimum 12 months of recent core experience in psychiatric/behavioral health nursing.
• Behavioral health experience with assessment and discharge planning.
• Point-of-care testing experience required.
• Adolescent psychiatric population experience preferred.
• EPIC EMR experience preferred.
• Minimum 1 professional reference within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN.
• DOB and last 4 of SSN required for consideration.

Responsibilities

• Free-standing Mental Health Emergency Center in Milwaukee, WI.
• 12-hour night shift schedule, 1900-0730, 36 hours per week.
• Unit houses 12 adult beds, 5 adolescent chairs/beds, and 6 inpatient beds.
• Care for adults and adolescents with crisis de-escalation, acute psychosis, SI, and detox.
• Includes voluntary and involuntary patients admitted by law enforcement.
• RN ratio is 1:2-3; charge nurse covers first shift with supervisor coverage.
• On-site security and two physicians on site 24/7 with mid-level provider at varying times.
• On-call during low census with 1-hour response; weekend rotation every other weekend.
• Perform intake, triage, and crisis de-escalation for psychiatric patients.
• Work with CNAs, physicians, security, and social work staff.

Responsibilities

• Free-standing Mental Health Emergency Center in Milwaukee, WI

• Patient population is 75% adults and 25% adolescents, including crisis de-escalation, acute psychosis, suicidal ideation, and non-medically monitored detox
• Includes both voluntary patients and involuntary patients brought in by law enforcement
• RN patient ratio is 1:2-3 on both day and night shifts
• Charge nurse covers first shift with house supervisor coverage evenings/overnights, neither carries a patient assignment
• On-site security (two officers 24/7) and two physicians on site 24/7 with a mid-level provider at varying shift times
• EPIC EMR preferred
• Floating is unlikely but may occur to other Aurora facilities within 20 miles during low census, working within scope of practice
• On-call required during low census periods with a 1-hour response time
• Weekend rotation is every other weekend
• Perform intake, triage, and crisis de-escalation for adult and adolescent psychiatric patients
• Work as part of an energetic, team-oriented unit supported by CNAs, physicians, security, and social work staff
• 3-5 days of orientation provided based on comfort level
• Minimum of 2 major winter holidays required for coverage
• Up to 5 days of time off approval allowed
• Business casual attire or any color scrubs permitted

• Former employees of Advocate Health or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible
